London & Great Britain
− Retrofitting by Eminox
In the 1990s Eminox pioneered DPF retrofit in London and by 2005 the entire Transport for London (TfL) bus fleet was retrofitted with DPF.The London Low Emission Zone (LEZ) was introduced in 2008, with tougher standards implemented in 2012. It is Europe’s largest LEZ it operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, approved retrofit systems offer vehicle owners a cost effective route to complying with the LEZ standard, tens of thousands of vehicles have been retrofitted.
All UK zones now meet air quality limits for particulate matter (PM10). As concerns about the health impacts of NOx have increased, Eminox has retrofitted buses with DPF+SCR technology to reduce both particulate matter and nitrogen oxides. From early air quality improvement programmes in 2006, buses have been retrofitted in Belgium, Barcelona and London, followed by wider roll out across the UK. Buses as far afield as Hong Kong have also been upgraded using DPF+SCR retrofit technology.
